VIOLIN & VIOLA
Ruth is available as a freelance Violinist and Viola Player.
From leading orchestras, performing shows from memory, to sight-reading in a session, or improvising a solo; Ruth has dedicated her life to nurturing the skills and talents required to excel in this ever-diversifying music industry, and enjoys a varied career performing all over the world. She plays an Eberle School Violin made in Prague C.1780, a Blue Yamaha Electric Violin (SV200), and a Modern Chinese Viola set up and purchased from Cardiff Violins.
Ruth studied Violin at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama under Harry Cawood & Iwona Boesche, she was awarded a 1st BMus (Hons) Degree and the Sir John Barbirolli Prize for chamber music.
After graduating Ruth moved to London to join the orchestra Southbank Sinfonia.
She was appointed to lead the orchestra in many concerts at The Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall & The Royal Opera House under conductors Barry Wordsworth & Paul Wynne Griffiths.
After a year with the orchestra, Ruth expanded her career by branching out to a whole range of musical ensembles that fed her enthusiasm for music of all genres and performance styles, including Classical, Theatre, Dance, Jazz, Pop & Rock.
